Eliot Worrell awaded

with the first Dorothea Langhammer fellowship

A major surprise awaited Eliot Worrell at the ballet workshop in support of the TANZ Foundation on November 16, 2025. As a stage manager normally responsible for calling artists to the stage, this time he himself was asked to step into the spotlight. Sabrina Sadowska, chairwoman of the board of the TANZ Foundation, presented Eliot Worrell with the newly established Dorothea Langhammer Fellowship of the Stiftung TANZ.

From 2012 to 2024, Eliot Worrell was a dancer in the Corps de ballet of Hamburg Ballet and appeared in numerous choreographies by John Neumeier both in Germany and abroad. In addition to his passion for dance, he has long been fascinated by the multifaceted nature and complexity of stage productions, especially when they are presented on international tours. After the end of his active career, he learned from long-time ballet stage manager Ulrich Ruckdeschel. At the start of the 2025/26 season, he became the ballet stage manager of Hamburg Ballet, thus successfully combining his previous experience and his love of art with in-depth knowledge of stage productions.

The TANZ Foundation – Transition Center Germany accompanies professional dancers from the beginning of their training through to the end of their active careers and beyond. It supports, advises, and promotes artists both ideologically and materially in all phases of the so-called “transition” process – the shift from a stage career to a new profession. The foundation’s goal is to strengthen the long-term prospects and appeal of the dance profession and to make a vital contribution to the diversity and performance capacity of artistic dance in Germany.

Dorothea Langhammer, who passed away in 2024, was a constant visitor to the shows of the Hamburg Ballet for over two decades and closely connected to the cause of the Stiftung TANZ.
